Amit Ashok works with Prof. Mark Neifeld in the Optical Computing and Processing Lab. Before returning to the University of Arizona, he worked as a Senior Scientist in the research and development division of OmniVision CDM Optics on novel computational imager design for commercial applications such as security, automotive, cell-phone based imaging. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona, in 2008. He received the M.S degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2001 and his B. Eng. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from University of Swaziland, Swaziland in 1998.

Research Interests

  1. - Task-Specific Computational and Compressive imager design

  2. - Bayesian inference based methods for incorporating signal and task priors

  3. - Information theoretic analysis/design of Computational/Compressive imagers

-  Measures of task-specificity (e.g. Mutual Information, ROC, visually weighted RMSE), Statistical Signal Processing, and Machine Learning
